Use quotation marks around exact words (quotes) from someone else. Use a comma or commas to separate a signal phrase from a full sentence quote. A full sentence quote just means that the quote is a sentence. It doesn’t have to be the entire sentence from the source. A signal phrase is also called an identifying tag or identifying words.
